How To Run Anywhere, Even When You're Not There

Sometimes, motivation has to come from within...we're talking somewhere really far in there.

Sometimes you have to actually make things up in order to get your butt out the door.

This morning, I played a prank on myself.  It was 6:45 a.m., Saturday, a sleep-in day...my non-sleeper-inner was at Grammy and Pop's for the night.  But, if I wanted to get a run in, it was then, or never.

DMan's bowling birthday was a few hours away, and the day needed to roll, like now.

Cold, no sunrise on the horizon, just grayness.  Cold and gray.  Uggg....

I set foot on the trail, and had to come up with some way to stay motivated...Kid Rock came on my IPod, and it was"Summertime in Northern Michigan".

That was it...from the .5 mile mark until the end at 7.something miles, I was in Anycityupnorth, MI!  It was a great run!!

I was running along the sandy beach of Lake Michigan.
We're calling this weed stuff sand here.
How lucky was I to pass by so many sprawling beachside resort hotels?!
Resort hotel, prison looking kind of building...you say potato...
The trees were gorgeous, and blooming with all kinds of flowers...so green!
It's a little green.  Don't mind the rusty trailor...we're pretending...
Not to even mention the nautical scenery, boats and waves crashing on the shore.
Boat.

Ummm...waves?
What an awesome run...

So, either I sound like a complete schizophrenic, or I am really good at pretending...both options seem a little odd now that it's in black and white...

Whatever, another run under the belt...and a more room for pizza and bowling birthday cupcakes!

Do you ever have to trick yourself into getting out the door for  a workout?

It's great to hook up with people with similar goals. Who can't use the extra motivaiton every now and then, huh?
